Build your team, day by day
Something occurred to me today: people tend to think about teambuilding and team development activities as stand-alone events that take place periodically through the year and serve to boost morale, reward success or solve a problem.
And they do these things. But why wait? There’s no need. You can, and should, be building your team every single day using simple techniques like saying thanks, praising successes, encouraging team members to share their problems and solve them together and frequently mixing up working partners to build strong relationships between all team members, not just some.
Don’t wait for your next formal team building event. Think about what one thing you could do every day next week to strengthen your team, make a list and tick it off each day. One week later, a stronger team! Do it every week and imagine where you’ll be by the end of the year!
